Schön für uns. aber ist noch ein Bot-Account auch schön fürs Fediverse? Eins ist klar: Ich werde weiterhin einzig und allein diesen Account auf Diaspora pflegen, Neuankömmlinge begrüßen und auf Fragen zur taz eingehen. Ich mache das freiwillig in Eigeninitiative. Sollten #Federation und Fediverse irgendwann miteinander reden, dann gern auch für beide. Ein offizielleres Content-Management der taz auf diaspora und Mastodon als das dieses Accounts wird es wegen der geringen Reichweite voraussichtlich nie geben. Und das betrifft sicher nicht nur die taz.
Es geht einfach nicht an, daß sich Inhalteanbieter entscheiden müssen: Federation oder Fediverse? Beides kann niemand leisten, die meisten nicht einmal eines von beidem (vom Installieren von Bots mal abgesehen). Auch den meisten anderen Benutzern werden zwei Accounts zuviel sein. Und dann können sie nur eines tun: Dahin gehen, wo ABC einen Account hat, oder dorthin, wo XYZ ist. Total hirnrissig.- Die Trennung von Federation und Fediverse widerspricht IMHO jedem Netzwerkgedanken. Es ist keine Rechtfertigung zu sagen, daß beides Special-Interest-Netzwerke sind, daß Mastodon mehr wie Twitter sei und Diaspora mehr wie Facebook. Man kann so nicht argumentieren, nur weil es bei Mastodon ein Limit für die Post-Länge gibt, oder aus welchen Gründen auch immer. Es gibt mehr Gemeinsamkeiten als Unterschiede. - Wer #facebook etwas entgegensetzen will, muß zusammenarbeiten und sich vernetzen, statt immer wieder das Rad neu zu erfinden, zu komkurrieren und damit dafür zu sorgen, daß es kleine föderierende #Netze gibt, die nicht miteinander reden. Es ist eine Sache, darauf zu pfeifen, die Power der Entwickler*innen zu bündeln, eine andere, die #Kommunikation untereinander zu blockieren. In Nullkommanichts sind wir so wieder zurück in den Zeiten der Mailboxnetzwerke und dem ewigen Clash zwischen Fido und Zerberus. Wer damals dabei war, möchte so etwas nie wieder erleben. Eine potentielle Userbase zu splitten ist jetzt, wo es das Internet gibt, sowas von rückständig, daß mir die Worte fehlen. - Wer jetzt "Friendica" sagt: Friendica ist eine coole eierlegende Wollmilchsau. Jeder der verschiedene soziale Netzwerke nutzen will, soll sich einen Friendica-Account zulegen. Hat aber nichts mit der klaren Entscheidung zu tun, diesen Account bei Diaspora zu betreiben, das (nahezu) keine Verbindung zu facebook et al hat und in meinen Augen eine echte Alternative ist. - Der Disapora-Entwickler Dennis Schubert hat sich in einem Blog-Artikel mit ein paar Gedanken zur technischen Ebene geäußert: https://schub.io/blog/2018/02/01/activitypub-one-protocol-to-rule-them-all.html - Das klingt plausibel.
